Panthers safety Eric Reid expressed frustration after receiving a $20,054 fine from the NFL for what he called a “legal” sideline tackle during Monday’s 12-9 loss to the Saints.
Reid shared on Twitter a video of the hit, which shows Carolina linebacker Luke Kuechly tackling Saints wide receiver Michael Thomas on his way out of bounds. Reid made some contact with Thomas once the Saints receiver was already on the sideline.
He wrote: “Adding it to the file… 1) Legal play (even if it wasn’t, there’s minimal contact) 2) Was not flagged by officials 3) $20,054 fine from the league office #DulyNoted.”

This isn’t the first time the 27-year-old player has expressed frustration with the league this season, though. Reid received his seventh random drug test after the loss to the Saints, which is more than any other player in the NFL this year. He suggested last month that the excessive drug testing was a result of his collusion grievance against the NFL.
The NFLPA filed a grievance in May on Reid’s behalf, alleging that team owners and the league tried to prevent Reid from signing with a team because of his protests against racial and social injustice during the national anthem.
