Former Carolina Panthers offensive lineman Frank Garcia was arrested Saturday, charged with misdemeanor assault on a female.
Garcia is currently a host of an afternoon talk show on WFNZ, 610-AM called “Garcia and Bailey.” He is also an assistant high school football coach with Charlotte Catholic, which will play for a N.C. 3A state championship Saturday.
Garcia, 46, was arrested Saturday at 4:30 p.m., according to Mecklenburg County records. He was booked into the Mecklenburg County jail Saturday at 8:08 p.m. He is listed as a state inmate. According to jail records, Garcia does not currently have a release date, but has a court date Monday at 9 a.m.
Garcia was arrested in a south Charlotte neighborhood for simple assault of a female. The police report shows that he was not related to the victim, a 29-year-old woman. The woman suffered minor injuries, according to the report, and refused medical treatment.
Garcia was drafted by the Panthers in the 1995 NFL Draft. He played with the Panthers from 1995-2000. He also played with the Rams (2001-02) and the Cardinals (2003).
